Viral Warts
Viral warts are a very common dermatological disease which can appear at any age. They are infections caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), producing contagious lesions that can be transmitted from one person to another. Infection occurs through close contact with a person who has warts. Warts can affect the skin and mucous membranes and are commonly seen on the hands and feet (they can become painful on the latter). When they appear in the genital area it is considered a sexually-transmitted disease. The treatment of warts depends on the type of wart, its location, the age of the patient, previous treatments undertaken, and the doctor’s experience. The Dr. Javier Bassas Dermatology Centre offers different types of treatment and we select the most suitable one for each patient.
